The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns, a masterpiece of music and fantasy, is a suite in 14 short movements, each inspired by an animal. It is a magnificent exercise in style that Camille Saint-Saëns composed in a few days and which was first performed privately on March 9, 1886 for Mardi Gras.
