At the foot of Granier, on the slopes of the Massif de la Chartreuse regional park, the Conservatory Garden of Lichens and Mushrooms of Apremont (Savoie) already brings together several hundred species of lichens in their reconstituted original biotopes and is also the pride of place for everything relating to mushrooms.
This neglected biodiversity is finally being put in the spotlight with the aim of discovering this little-known, mysterious world and yet so essential to life on earth. Did you know that lichen covers more than 8% of the surface of our planet and that thanks to in its photosynthesis it contributes to a significant part of the air we breathe, it is a formidable indicator of atmospheric pollution and the good health of our forests.
It is at the center of multiple studies in various fields, such as medicine, space research, industry, gastronomy, ecological balance.
You will be surprised throughout the journey by this world rich in shapes and colors, worthy of the most beautiful coral settings and you will no longer look at nature in the same way.
A large part of the garden is devoted to mushrooms and everything related to the fungal kingdom, taxonomy, agronomy, medicine, toxicology, gastronomy, myco-materials, myciculture, balance of biodiversity, biomimicry, but also art and culture.
