About us
You will pass through the Cracked Rock Breach and the Iron Mine Pass and will be immersed in a mineral landscape strongly steeped in its mining history.
Just outside La Coche, we find the Oisans slope which we keep up to the Roche Fendue breach.
As you gain altitude, the landscape dries up to give way to a mineral world.
At the Col de la Mine de Fer, an excavation intended for the extraction of iron recalls the time when miners roamed the sides of this valley. The path goes down and crosses the very wild valley to the refuge perched on its rocky spur which dominates Grenoble and the Grésivaudan valley.
Chantal or Pauline, the shelter keepers, will welcome you warmly. Remember to book. Depending on the period, the refuge fills up quickly.
For seasoned hikers, it is possible to do Les 7 Laux / Jean Collet directly (be careful, very long day).
