About us
The restored old center of Montmélian is a fine example of Savoyard urban architecture: houses with narrow facades, covered passageways, old Renaissance style mansions, storefronts of old shops...
The city at the foot of the fort is surrounded by its medieval ramparts.
On either side of the central street, the houses have narrow facades pierced with alleys, which sink into a maze of interior courtyards and covered passages.
The Renaissance-style hotels have retained their mullioned windows, spiral staircases and Italian-style loggias.
Of the Dominican convent founded in 1319, there remains the guest building and the church.
The Faubourg de la Chaîne (former entrance to the town) retains a picturesque character with its cobbled street and the storefronts of the old shops.
The XNUMXth century Cuenot bridge (Historic Monument) over the Isère offers a very beautiful view of the city.
