In Aiguebelle, take the road to Montgilbert, Le Planay, Fort de Montgilbert, Le Pontet via the Manchet and the Granges.
Stage :
This stage is marked by the history of iron in the Alps. A multitude of former mining sites punctuate the Hurtières range, from Grand Montgilbert to the Col du Petit Cucheron, from the ridges to the Maurienne valley.
Iron in Belledonne evokes 700 years of history, from Charlemagne and the legend of the Durandal sword to the Schneider du Creusot company. From the Middle Ages, the mines of Hurtières were the most important in Savoie and renowned for the quality of their ores (iron, copper, silver).
To discover this exceptional heritage and visit real mine galleries, stop off at the Grand Filon museum, the Hurtières mining site.
