Belledonne, in the heart of the Alps
True skyline of the Combe de Savoie, the Belledonne chain is an alpine massif recognizable among a thousand by its high ridge line, often snowy. The GR738 crosses it from North to South, allowing its crossing in 11 stages. Val Pelouse provides access from the north to the high mountain landscapes, summit of the Grands Moulins, Cirque des Férices.
This massif is a real playground for nature lovers: trail running, hiking, paragliding, cycling...there is something for everyone. The diversity of its landscapes (mountainous, marshes, green valley) makes it one of the must-sees in the area. At the foot of the massif stretches the Val Gelon where visitors and locals alike can indulge in fishing, stroll through the markets or enjoy the water games of Lake Saint-Clair. It is also an area steeped in history, on the border between Savoie and Dauphiné, dotted with fortified houses and medieval towers.
Further south, the ski resorts of Collet d'Allevard and 7 laux take place. The spa town of Allevard is a few minutes by car from La Rochette. Shuttles connect during the summer period and the ski season the Gare de Pontcharra, Valgelon La Rochette, Allevard les Bains, and Collet d'Allevard.
