A “real” pass accessible at less than 600 m altitude is not that common! So to train or simply enjoy a nice view, the Col de la Cochette is there for you!
This “valley” loop is surprising in more than one way: not taking the main roads, it allows you to be relatively quiet on small secondary roads so pleasant for a silky pedal stroke. Also, it combines small, more demanding sectors without really putting you in the red. And then it's the opportunity to "make a pass" so dear to cyclists, that of La Cochette, where you can take a break while taking a look at the two main towns of the Heart of Savoie: Montmélian and Valgelon-La-Rochette. Between Bauges and Belledonne, you will be surprised by the difference in atmosphere between the slopes of this small intra-valley massif called “Montraillant”. The route passes through small isolated hamlets where pastoralism is still present with its large farms and green pastures.
