About us
The counts of Savoy settled in Montmélian in the Middle Ages. The traffic routes using the Alpine passes pass through the Tarentaise and Maurienne valleys.
Located at the outlet of the latter, between the Montraillant where the towers of the Château de Montmayeur dominate, the glacial moraine which dominates the Isère valley and the Montmélian rock, the Coisin valley welcomed the local lords and was fortified to protect and monitor the passages.
