About us
Here the indigenous grape varieties Altesse, Jacquère, Roussanne, Mondeuse Noire et Blanc, Persan, Doux Noire flourish, as well as Malvoisie, Pinot, Gamay, Chardonnay and Petite Arvine from neighboring vineyards.
Vinified alone or in blends but always in plot selection.
Cuddle nature and accompany it according to AB criteria; working as a team where everyone brings their sensitivity and know-how is our precept to offer you healthy wines off the beaten track."
Let those who have the most beautiful descent take the line of greatest slope to join us.
Located between Chambéry and Albertville in the Bauges Regional Natural Park under steep foothills facing the Alps, the Domaine Saint-Germain, with an area of 13.5 ha, extends over the slopes exposed to the south of the commune. of Saint-Pierre d'Albigny where vines have been cultivated since ancient times.
Coming from a traditional family farm, the estate was born in 1999 from the passion of new generations for vines and wine.
Respect for the environment, love of grapes, and the search for a frank and expressive wine guided the choice of cultivation methods and work in the vat room.
An approach to do without chemical weeding, rigorously justified interventions for the protection of the vines have naturally led us to organic production.
A careful selection of newly planted plots and selected grape varieties, controlled yields, traditional vinification seeking the minimum of operations between the grape harvest and the aging of the wine, the acceptance of the specificity of each vintage, these are the principles which guide the action of men to best extract the character of the terroir and grape varieties.
The estate produces Savoie wines from the Jacquère, Chardonnay, Velteliner Rose, Roussanne, Petite Arvine, Mondeuse Blanche and Altesse grape varieties in white, Gamay, Pinot Noir, Persian and Mondeuse Noire in red. The variety of grape varieties makes it possible to obtain wines without blending, typical and appropriate for various occasions: from wines which must be drunk young to capture all the freshness or fruit, to wines which a few years of cellaring fully reveal by delivering all the potential of a vintage.
After obtaining a master's degree in plant biology, Raphaël Saint-Germain oriented a traditional family farm exclusively towards viticulture.
We chose this quote from André Gide as our motto:
“The most beautiful things are those that madness breathes and reason writes”
