Montmélian guided tour along the water - FULL

About us

On the occasion of the 26th edition of the Country and Mill Heritage Days, discover the hydraulic history of Montmélian.

Montmélian developed on the right bank of the Isère river, where its bed narrows offering two solid and close banks, ideal for building a bridge. This opportunity allowed the development of trade and transport from the 13th century.
Water is also at the heart of the life of the city as evidenced by the constant search for sources and the construction of cisterns to collect rainwater.
This guided walk in the historic center will take you from wells to fountains, passing through the wash houses, to the bridge, following the traces of this hydraulic heritage.

Meet at the church square for the start of the visit.
